Don't presume that everyone knows what a QR code is yet. Tell people what to use, what to do and the incentive for doing so. As with all marketing, you should provide a reason to act, and your readers need to see just what this is.
Don't be shy! Make your QR code stand out! Too many are far too small, and achieve nothing. People don't notice them, or, if they do, they won't scan. So make them user-friendly, at least one square inch.
Don't send your readers on a "wild goose chase"! Make sure your QR code leads people to your "mobile-friendly" page. Another common mistake is sending people to a full website. This works fine on a PC, but try reading and navigating it on a mobile.
